Purchased another "ticket" to have my brother partake in this event with me as he is going to be visiting at just the right dates!
That and another helmet so that I can give him back his motorcycle helmet.
Rock on! In the E30?
I'm going up to Little Rock (Arkansas) for their regions SCCA autocross event on April 17. They don't preregister anymore so I can't really chalk it up as a "purchase" yet :o

would anyone care to explain why the uk price for a 30" cinema display is 1549 whereas in the US it is $1999 (around 1054.71) even with VAT included this still only comes to 1,239.28 - so why the huge margin...I guess it's not called rip-off Britain for nothing eh...Excluding VAT, my edu disc price is 1,213.00. I'm sorely tempted to order.

AT&T drops a ton of calls in my area, but it's no different than when I used Verizon.
Same with me. its all about location. I have AT&T (iPhone) and Verizon (BB Storm), both drop calls, where i have coverage on one, i dont on the other and vice versa. So to say one has better coverage or not, its hard to point in the right direction. Really... As long as i can make a call im good, I had perfect coverage 2 days ago on the Storm and the network wasnt working, while my iPhone had 1 bar on 3G and no issues.
But its a cool commerical, I like how they are only talking about 3G coverage not over all service coverage, kind of makes Verizon look better. Then again...who is struggling for not having the iPhone?

Logic Pro 7 has yet to be cracked, so Apple has people who know how to do copyright protection.
Emagic already had the security dongle in place when Apple bought Logic from them. Apple just made it white and put their logo on it.
a quick look at google will show you that Logic Pro 7 has definately been cracked... ;)
It's not a full version of Logic Pro. It's Logic Express with the track count limitations removed. Many of the plug-ins are not included in the cracked version, and the plug-ins were a major reason that I bought Logic Pro.
Nothing is uncrackable, but Logic Pro is about as close as it can be.

I thought the best was the Mac Pro spec changes, I don't see why they did that last week? I though they were leaving space for some life-changing device, didn't happen.
I would quite like the NAS Airport though...
"There's something in the Air" - smells like ******** to me :D

When I read the subject, I got a little hopeful...when I saw the screenshot showing Spaces/Expos, I really thought the "UI tweak" was that they'd let us use the old Spaces if we wanted to.
Guess not, it's still that b******ized Mission Control...

And if you're wrong and it's announced in January? ;)
I don't see that happening. It's just not how Apple works.

I think part of this announcement has to do with Leopard. There is a phone and/or media center device in our futures, and of course it will be very tightly integrated with OSX. Part of why OSX new features are top secret is because it is intimately involved with what will be announced here. With this product out of the bag, they can finally spill some stuff they've been holding back about Leopard. I'd expect a new Leopard seed out soon.
Note Leopard hasn't been sent to the general seeding developer community yet? They must have a build in the wings.
Note not a word on changes in Leopard Front Row, iTunes, Finder? These things are in the wings.
At showtime, things in the wings come out on stage.

Oh - and I don't own a mobile phone and have no intention of getting one. Just a rat hole for suckers to pour money down :D
I'm one of those people who has a mobile but no landline wired telephone. It's becoming more common in the US; other countries I'm not sure.

Nice try, SavMan. But I'm not buying your interesting yet psuedoscientific explanation for why 5G iPods only 'appear' to scratch more easily.
White 5G iPods are just as easily scratched as the black ones, as any disappointed owner will tell you. I've had a 4G iPod for 2 years, carrying it back and forth to work in my pocket. I take it out of a Belkin case to recharge it, then put it back in for transport. The thing still looks practically new. I know someone else who purchased a new white 5G iPod. Within moments of gentle handling, the thing is covered with light scratches.
It seems to me that a softer grade of acrylic is being used on these latest iPods. I'm not the only one who's noticed this problem. I don't believe that it's the result of some optical coincidence. Everyone knows that there are hundreds (if not thousands) of complaints to be found on the net.
Whatever the reason is, a manufacturer who doesn't care what their customers have to say about their expensive products will soon find those customers flocking to other companies' products. Hellooooo Zune!
And no amount of fanboy cheerleading will stop it.
No its not really fanboy cheerleading, its called physics. He hit the nail on the head with that post, the acrylic is the same, its just the shape. Thats not psudoscience, its elementary high school physics
But if a couple of scratches rub you the wrong way, then go ahead and get a zune, no one will really care ;)

Mobile ADs! It is pretty distinctive because 20% of consumer will open an email ad meanwhile 97% will view a mobile ad. Such a big contrast!

Microsoft is doing the smart thing by basing W8 on W7 and refining with a smaller collection of new features/improvements instead of trying everything new like they did with Vista. They are not going overboard this time around and they're also pushing to do <3 year release cycle. I hope they do another smart thing by actually decreasing the price of their SKUs a bit while reducing the SKUs as well. W8 Home for 150$ and W8 Pro for 250$, remove the Ultimate SKU.
Windows 8 is rumored to have a new feature called History Vault that's similar to Time Machine, so it'd be interesting to see how it works out.
Please note that it's not fair to compare both right now. They both say things but it does not mean that those features will show up in the final build. W7 changed a lot from the first beta to the final release due to their massive beta test program. Microsoft is likely to repeat the same beta test project with W8 because of the massive success it bought to W7.

Updated iMac (without screen issues)… make an option for a quad! :)
I know the chance for the iMac to be updated is small, but this is what the Buyer's Guide says: Days Since Update - 154 (Avg = 185)
I'm just saying, but is it really that far-fetched that we'll see Penryn iMacs on the 15th?
… Oh, and I want the iPhone to come to Norway!!! :D

I'm ready to order a second iMac 17" 2.0 from the Apple on-line store after midnight.
Besides the estimated US$100 discount on Black Friday the retail stores and the on-line store should provide a coupon giving one access to Apple's low profile recycling program. One can recycle up to 140 pounds (less shipping boxes) of old computer junk by obtaining from Apple two Fed-Ex shipping labels. Drop two boxes off at Fed-Ex and Apple will pay for the shipping to their recycling center. Supposedly good equipment gets directed to worthy organizations and the toxic stuff gets recycled properly. If you buy a Mac elsewhere you can't participate in Apple's recycling program.
My 1989 LaserWriter II still prints fine but will not work with any of my current Macs. A 1994 Sony 17" CRT monitor and a Power Mac 6100 are likewise ready to recycle. Where I live it would cost me $75 at the dump and over $100 to ship them to a responsible computer recycler.

Using aluminum would hinder the cellular reception wouldn't it ?
They could employ the same trick they employ in the iPad where they have a plastic Logo in the alu back and the antenna behind the plastic logo..
This shell is still fake as Apple would never use visible, hard edges for the bevelled back but a smooth roundness. Just like the ipad

They might get laughed at but apple will be the ones laughing when their the first to debut santa rosa with 800mhz fsb and nand flash. Hopefully this is whats going to happen
Apple won't be first, they'll either announce the same day as HP/Dell/Lenovo/Acer/Asus/... - or they'll announce later.
With Yonah, Merom, Woodcrest and Conroe, the pattern has been "later".
At some point the consumer experience is not appreciably improved by processor improvements. Except for media processing intensive applicatons, we are there.
That alone ia an amazing statement for the Apple platform.
Can any other platform say that or even promise that any time within 2 years?
Windows and Linux are running on the same platform, and both have proven SMP capabilities far beyond what Apple is selling.
Most of the quad and octo systems at IDF were running XP, W2K3, or Vista. None were running OSX.

I am glad they got rid of the slider. The slider currently used for Time Machine is annoying.
